PRESTIGIOUS & LARGE SCALE PROJECTS – (2006 – 2009)

Block of apartments, private residences and commercial centers keep works going on through-out the year and keeps business going in different locations. The fact remains that only large and prestigious projects are able to give us a good name both locally as well as oversees. Only these types of projects give us enough space to proof that we are both quality and time conscience all through-out the project.

Below we will be mentioning some of the most sought after projects that have been completed or are still on going.

1. Mgarr Gozo Ship terminal – This project, although not big is we as company believe to be a prestigious one. Gozo is the sister island to Malta, and the only way to go to the island is by ship. The project is basically the building of a much needed terminal. We consider this terminal to be prestigious because of the unique design and the way the terminal almost changed the image of the locals as well as tourists visiting Gozo.

2. Fortina Hotel Extension Tower – At 19 stories high, the Fortina tower is the highest hotel that we have in Malta. Since the only other tower in Malta is cladded in aluminum, this is the first time that a building of that height has been rendered. The Fortina is a five star hotel, including its own spa and world restaurants, it is now one of the most luxurious hotels in Malta.

MBF have finished this project both with external and internal plastering and painting works. Including the finishing of the reception, rooms, spas and restaurants.

3. Palace Hotel, Sliema – Situated right in the core of Sliema, The Palace is the newest hotel on the island. Completed in 2008, the hotel boasts boutique design style in the reception, common areas, rooms and restaurants. The hotel also has a gym, spa and well as a horizon pool roof overlooking the rest of the eastern part of the island. MBF have also rendered both the external of the project and the internals.

4. Lufthansa Teknik (Malta) – Any foreign investment into Malta is already a big thing. When the government declared that the aviation giant Lufthansa wanted to build their hangers next to the Malta International Airport in Luqa it was a good thing for the whole nation. For one thing MBF went to carry out the project hands down. This 50,000 square metre project includes three large airplane hangers (each hanger fits approximately 3 large aircraft) and well as large offices and mechanic centers. After very tight time restraints this project was completed in 2009.

5. Malta Maritime Trade Centre, Marsa – As Malta is surrounded by sea, shipping is a very important part of our economy. The design of this structure in culmination with the size of the offices centre show how important shipping has become. This project has been rendered externally by MBF using silicate compounds. The structure was completed in 2007.

5. The Point Shopping Mall – Works are currently in the final stages in the biggest shopping centre in Malta. MBF has carried out both internal and external rendering, as well as gypsum partitions for all the shop sectors. A football ground lies above this very original design.

6. Midi Tigne Point and Piazza – If not the largest the second largest residential project in Malta. Comprising of 12 blocks. All apartments are of luxious standards, and all have sea views. One of the most sought after locations on the island. To add all this together a beautiful piazza is still under construction, but will comprise of completing the almost village like project. The actual blocks of apartments were completed in early 2009. MBF has carried out all of the external rendering
and most of the
internal plastering.

7. Pender Gardens, residential and commercial centres – Still in the early phases of phase one. MBF has been awarded this early contract to render three of
the large residential blocks both internally and externally. It must be noted, that is the only tender that has been released to date. Future tenders should include three commercial and residential towers.

8. Fort Cambridge – Residential towers. Still in the early stages, but MBF has been awarded the contract to carry out the total rendering of both internals and externals. Externals are going to be cladded with insulation systems in accordance to environment regulations. The first large scale project in Malta to include this system.
